Anywhere in the world, Thai cuisine is amongst the favourites of South East Asian cuisines. It has earned its place with its uniquely sweet-yet-slightly-sour overall taste, especially with its soup-based food. At Baan Thai 2 Restaurant, however, you don’t just enjoy Thai food at its finest. Here, you get to experience their cuisine (be it soup-based or grilled; seafood or poultry) in your own private Karaoke TV Rooms until as early as 5 a.m.!
Baan Thai Restaurant — Thai Food At Its Finest
We went all-out that day and had before us an absolute feast. We had their Red Tom Yum Seafood (Tom Yam Nam Khon), Deep Fried Chicken wrapped in Pandan Leaf (Gai Hor Bai Tey), Banana Flower with Shrimp (Yam Hua Pi), Stir Fried Crab with Curry Powder (Pu Phad Phong Kahri), BBQ Squid (Pla Muk Yang), Grilled Fish with Salt (Pla Pao), and last but in no way the least, their enormous BBQ River Prawn (Kung Pao).
Let’s start by talking about their Seafood Red Tom Yam. After all, what’s a Thai restaurant without this world-renowned dish, right? Hands down, this is amongst the best Tom Yam I’ve personally had the pleasure of tasting (and I’ve been to Thailand before). Sour with the slightest hint of spiciness, the exotic fragrance of lemon grass and savoury essence of fresh seafood induces a warm, euphoric sensation throughout your body. It’s simply everything Tom Yam should be!

“How special can their barbecue be?” Well, that’s the wrong question. It’s not about how special it is, but rather how perfectly well done it is. You know how squid, if not cooked correctly, can be chewy? Theirs was not only tender, but crunchy at the same time. Each bite was as smoky and delicious as the last, the aroma of the grill filling your sense alongside the underlying taste of egg and a hint of red curry.
Needless to say, the Banana Flower with Shrimp and Stir Fried Crab with Curry Powder is just as amazing as all the previous dishes mentioned. Both are must-try’s!
Not Just Food, But Spacious Private Karaoke TV Rooms Too!
Providing a welcoming, cosy, and spacious environment is part and parcel to how enjoyable food can be. Here, this cannot be more clear with their humongous open-air public dining area that is accompanied by a row of private, cosy Karaoke TV rooms along one side. Despite the blazing sun looming overhead, the open-air part of the restaurant did not feel at all hot, and we at KL Foodie felt comfortable dining slowly during our experience there.

As for the private KTV rooms, just looking into it made us feel cosy on the inside. With smooth brick walls and wooden floor panels, Leewadee cushions line the table on both sides. Beneath the table, the floor panel goes a few feet deeper, letting one dangle their legs comfortably whilst sitting on the floor and feasting. The best part? This restaurant is open all the way until 5am, which means you can take your own sweet time eating, singing, and just chilling in your own private room!
There’s also a private function room upstairs, fully equipped with seating accommodating about 50 people, Karaoke TV systems, and even a pool table! This second floor is secluded from the rest of the crowd, as it’s the only room on the second floor. It’ll be the perfect place for patrons who plan to host a large group of Thai-cuisine-enthusiasts!
