Hidden Bakery Cafe In An Over Century-Old Colonial Building In KL

Located at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur City Gallery (KLCG) was a go-to spot for tourists to drop by to learn more about KL city and get some souvenirs. However, since the pandemic last year, the KLCG team had to come up with a plan b…fast. Shifting things online, they decided to start baking and selling cronuts (one of the very few places that has it!). They have gained quite a following as well. Now, they have a full-fledged bakery cafe right at where it all began!

Upon entering KLCG, you’re greeted by huge open space where a cafe, bakery and souvenir shop co-exist. Smack right in the middle is a super unique 360° glass theatre where you can watch as the entire baking process unfolds. Its modern metal pastry bar is contrasted against rustic coloured window panels and vintage furniture. This bakery cafe definitely brings comfort and aesthetics to a whole new level.

Handcrafted Artisanal Bakes All Freshly Made In House

A family’s passion for sharing handcrafted delicacies and pastries since 1957 is what brought KLCG Bakery & Confectionary alive. Using only the finest premium ingredients for their pastries and cakes, everything here is as delectable as they look. Everything is handmade fresh daily, so you can expect only the freshest bakes and cakes at KLCG.

A definite must-try at KLCG is their cronuts (a croissant-doughnut pastry). Who can resists these multi-flavoured crispy and flakey pastry? Take your pick at 10 different flavours – with sweet flavours like Melted Caramel and Lotus Biscoff, or fruity ones like Peach, Exotic Mango and even Imperial Durian!

Aside from cronuts, they also have a wide range of artisanal croissant pastries fit for every palate. Using Charentes-Poitou, a traditional French butter for their croissants, elevating the taste and making it extra fragrant with each bite. Don’t miss out on their strudels, cakes, tarts, bagel burgers and pastas. Honestly, this place has all our cravings under one roof!
