Starbucks Malaysia has teamed up with non-profit organisation, Friends To Mankind, to provide books to underprivileged communities under a project called The Book Effect. They have set up collection stations at 52 Starbucks locations across Klang Valley, where you can donate books by placing them in the baskets provided.
The Book Effect Aims To Provide Books And Build Libraries
Launched in August 2019, the year-long project has raised over 50,000 books and built 11 libraries in refugee schools, orphanages, low-income housing and community centres. These were achieved with other corporate partnerships such as GSC, Sunway, Prince Court and Big Bad Wolf.
They Also Host Community Activities To Inspire Love Of Books
Apart from building libraries, Friends To Mankind strives to inspire the community with book related activities such as giveaways, setting up libraries in waiting rooms or cafes, and book collection booths at events like Riuh.
Volunteer And Participate In The Project
If you’re interested in participating, you can volunteer by helping to set up libraries, collecting books and more!
