Hello friends! Today is a very special day for Subang Jaya. 22 years years ago, Petaling District Council was upgraded to a Municipal Council. Since then, Subang Jaya had set to officially become a city. According to Selangor Journal, Subang Jaya would be the third city in Selangor after Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya
Officially A City On 20th October 2020
Back in June 2020, MPSJ president, Noraini Roslan announced that the council had received consent from the Sultan of Selangor. “The date of the declaration for Subang Jaya City Council will be on Oct 20, 2020,” she said in a statement after the council’s full board meeting. Today, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) officially changed to Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).
Improving Local’s Living Standards
No doubt, the council will have more authority when dealing with council matters thanks to their new city status. “The standard of living for residents in the area would also improve,” Said councilor Chang Kim Loong last year to theSundaily. Especially since the property prices and value will complement its city status.
Noraini is hopeful that the upgraded status will enable them to accommodate more residents. Additionally, Subang Jaya is aiming to reach 500,000 residents in the next 14 years.
