10 Best Cafes In KL Perfect For Brunch

Either we were too young to realize or did Brunch suddenly become a thing like avocado and off-shoulder tops? With a few clicks here and there, Guy Beringer popped out! About time we thank him as he is the genius who invented brunch. Inspired by the meal he had after his hangover the next day, Beringer, an English author, proposed the concept of this combination meal in his essay—Brunch: A Plea—which he penned in 1895. The essay was written to assist those who nursed hangovers every Sunday morning from the night before. Drunk or not, a good big breakfast brunch at 12 PM after a snoozed sleep is just the way to go on a Sunday Morning don’t you reckon! We’re all about that and so are these cafes!

#5 Egg Benedict @ Huckleberry Food & Fare

By myhuckleberrykl

Huckleberry’s loaves of bread are made the old fashioned way, using sourdough starters, and the loaves are left to rise longer than usual to produce a lighter texture while letting the flavors develop.

#7 Banh Mi (Vietnamese Baguette) @ Banh Mi Cafe

By le.sang0111

If you haven’t tried their French-influenced pork pátê sandwich @ Banh Mi aka Vietnamese Baguette, it’s time to call up all your friends to have a trip down to this restaurant for an authentic taste of Vietnam. The most common flavor consists of grilled pork belly or roast pork loin, layers of ham, pátê paste, slices of cucumber and sprigs of coriander topped with special sauces. For the full Banh mi experience, the locals usually add a bit of chili as well as pickled radish and daikon.

Run by Cindy & her brother, both originally from Vietnam’s Dong Nai province, east of Ho Chi Minh City, they’ve been making a living out of making banh mi for nearly 2 decades now and they can’t keep customers away even if they want to! Upon entering the cafe, the smell of baguettes baked fresh every morning will entice you straight to the counter of neatly stacked baguette into a cornucopia of carbs. Have your sandwiches stuffed with grilled pork, bacon, ham, chicken or even fish!

#8 Grilled Cheese Sandwich @ SoftCore

By my_softcore

Located among the car workshops and right behind myburgerlab Sunway, lies softcore Molton cake & co. If you happen to be a cafe hopper, you would probably know this place for their gooey centers. Molten Cake (RM16) as just another wannabe ‘liu sha pao’ — this golden hunk is paired with honey cereal and curry leaves, both of which add wonderful dimensions to the dessert. But what’s a hidden signature here is heir grilled cheese sandwiches are exceptionally melty as well.

By my_softcore

What you want to go for is the classic grilled cheese sandwich; the ingredients are simple – melted cheddar, mozzarella, pickles and paprika in between two slices of butter-toasted sourdough bread – but all together they make a decent sandwich. The pickles add crunch, the crisp and buttery bread cuts the creaminess of the cheese, and the sides of thick-cut fries and salad make it a full meal.
