This is the perfect go-to after a tiring day of exploring the city. If you’re looking for an affordable restaurant that won’t charge you RM30 per plate, Capitol Cafe is the place to be. This old school kopitiam offers mainly local delights such as nasi lemak, toast and pan mee among others. If you’re working nearby, do drop by during lunch hour; their lunch set comprises nasi lemak ayam and limau ice at a price of RM10(*).

This eatery went viral years ago but we can’t deny that it is one of the most affordable noodle treats out there. For only RM2.20 per bowl, Boat Noodle serves 5 different flavours of noodles: Ayutthaya 2.0, Dry Tom Yum, Suki Nam, Sweet Kuey Chap and Pathumthani. With such an extensive list of food options under one roof, the place doesn’t lack in terms of its environment as well. This well-maintained and air-conditioned food court has definitely garnered considerable attention from both locals and tourists. We admit that this isn’t THE cheapest place around, but considering its location and food standard, it is certainly reasonably priced.

Located along the street of Jalan Alor, there is an array of hawker stalls offer a variety of inexpensive and appetizing local dishes to satisfy your cravings from roasted chicken wings to seafood. Known as a great supper spot, the street comes to life at night so you’ll get to experience a lively ambience while you dine.

Happened to be at Jalan Nagasari and not sure of where to eat? Head on over to Nagasari Curry House! This Indian joint serves affordable “mamak” style food in Bukit Bintang and as the name suggests, they specialise in curries though their tandoori chicken seems to be a crowd-pleaser as well. They are halal-friendly but do take note that Nagasari serves beer.

6. Restoran Nasi Ayam Chee Meng

Started back in the 1960s, this restaurant has certainly stood the test of time and up to this day, they have still managed to produce delicious chicken rice at a reasonable price too (RM7.50). 7. Sarang Cookery

You may not notice Sarang Cookery at first glance but if you have ever visited VCR Galloway, this eatery is just a couple of doors away. Sarang Cookery serves Baba and Nyonya cuisines, so this is definitely a must-try if you have decided to be adventurous by trying something new rather than typical cafes and Kopitiam meals. Their Nasi Ulam (RM12.50) is often praised but if you’d like to opt for something cheaper, we recommend their Nasi Goreng Kerabu (RM8.50).

Located at Level 4 of Sungei Wang Plaza, this food court may look slightly rundown but it’s the perfect spot for inexpensive food. This place is usually swarming with working adults during lunch hour as they are known for their variety and affordability. Prices usually range between RM6-RM10, which is rare especially since it is located in the prime city area.
