Malaysia, surprise me more! No matter how long we have lived in Malaysia, there is just no way of telling whether it has been fully explored. Malaysia is just that deep of a treasure trove! This time, we will be looking at the glowing Pepsi Blue Lake that has been resting peacefully in Kemaman, Terengganu. You might need to sweat a bit to reach it but we promise you, it will worth your time.
Pepsi Blue Lake is dyed with colour as deep as the sky
Chup! Before anyone starts to pack their swimming trunks and bikinis, do know that this inviting body of water could actually corrode your skin. Locals claimed that the Pepsi Blue Lake or formerly known as Lubuk Mandi Lake used to be, wait for it, a gold mine! Because of its steep 50 meters ledges and chemically dangerous waters, locals have kept the place hidden.
That is until a group of reckless teenagers decided to cannonball into it and popularize the Pepsi Blue Lake on their social media in 2015. If you are really up for it, park your car at Taman Kalungan Mas, Marang, and have a quick 10 minutes walk up the lake. There are 2 such lakes in the area; Rusila Blue Lake and Pepsi Blue Lake. Rusila Blue Lake is just as blue but a bit smaller in size.
Take a deep breath as you stand on its ledge and savor the ever calming breeze. Rest assured that every nook and cranny of the lake is dyed in this mysterious blue. Upgrade your photography game and give it a visit! You might even be able to convince yourself that you’re in Australia instead, LOL!
