The new four times weekly services from Kuala Lumpur help to realise the Indonesian Government’s sustainable tourism agenda to develop ‘10 New Bali’s’, and follows the commencement of daily Jakarta – Belitung services which began on 1 October 2019.
The welcoming ceremony at Belitung Airport was attended by Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, His Excellency Zainal Abidin Bakar; Special Staff of the Minister of Tourism on Tourism Infrastructure, Judi Rifajantoro; Special Staff of Minister of Transportation on Law and Bureaucracy Reform, Dr Umar Aris; Head of Tourism Department of Bangka Belitung Islands, Rivai; Regent of Belitung, Sahani Saleh; Independent Non-Executive Director of AirAsia Group Berhad, Dato’ Fam Lee Ee and AirAsia Indonesia Deputy CEO Veranita Yosephine.
AirAsia Indonesia Deputy CEO Veranita Yosephine said, “These new routes from Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta continue our trajectory support of the Ministry of Tourism Indonesia’s initiative to develop ‘10 New Bali’s’. This year alone, AirAsia Indonesia has launched new routes from Jakarta to Sorong, from Bali to Lombok and to Labuan Bajo, gateway to the Komodo islands. To facilitate this expansion, the company has grown its fleet to include three new Airbus A320 aircraft which are based in Jakarta and Lombok. By year end, we will also take delivery of an additional two new aircraft. We’d like to thank our government and industry partners for believing in our vision in Indonesia, to make flying affordable for everyone.
To celebrate the new route, AirAsia is offering a special all-in members fare from as low as RM89* from Kuala Lumpur to Belitung, from now until 6 October 2019 for travel from today until 9 February 2020. To book, visit airasia.com or the AirAsia mobile app.
