Cracked Cake

  • Oven temperature too high or;
  • Mould too small

How To Fix:

  • Use correct size for the mould

Uneven Cake

  • Rotate the mould a few times while baking
  • Whisk the flour properly before adding in the wet ingredients

Wet On The Bottom

Why It Happens:

  • Too many wet ingredients
  • The cake didn’t being removed from the pan for cooling

  • Line a parchment paper at the bottom of the mould
  • Remove the cake quickly for cooling

Overflowed Cake

Why It Happens:

  • The tins are too small or too shallow
  • You fill too much batter into the tin
  • Too much raising agent in the cake batter.

  • Fill the batter to only 2/3 full of the tin
  • Place a baking sheet under your pan to catch any overflow

Cake’s Crust Too Hard

Why It Happens:

  • Over greasing and flouring cake pans
  • Too much sugar in the recipe
  • Over baked the cake

How To Fix:

  • Avoid greasing the pan with too much oil

Cake Sunk In The Middle

Why It Happens:

  • You open the door too much before the cake has set
  • Using too much leavener
  • The mixture sit out too long before baking

How To Fix:

  • Avoid opening and closing the oven too often
  • The batter should go into the oven as soon as it has done mixing.

Holes In The cake

Why It Happens:

  • Overbeating when the flour is added

How To Fix:

  • Preheat the oven before putting your batter in
  • Avoid overmixing
  • Lightly tap them on the counter before placing them into the oven
