Japanese cuisine is undeniably what most of us gravitate to, with tons of unlimited options all around town. From the simplest of sushis to the likes of fine dining, there’s definitely something for everyone in KL! Joining the pack is a delightful Japanese fusion restaurant in Bukit Jalil where locals have flocked to daily for stunning, stunning dishes.
CC By Mel Serves Beautiful IG-Worthy Japanese Fusion Plates
Just a stone’s throw from Pavilion Bukit Jalil, CC By Mel was initially a smaller café that first opened in January 2021. It’s the brainchild of former florist Melanie Pong, who loved combining the beauty of nature and food together. Now having expanded to a bigger, brighter location, this restaurant currently seats 70 pax at a time with what seemed like never-ending customers when we visited.
Their interior brought a smile to our faces as we sauntered into an aesthetically-pleasing environment filled with natural sunlight thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows! The restaurant is also decked out in greenery, with a picturesque plant corner for the perfect IG photo too.
Dining
As aforementioned, CC By Mel infuses nature into their dishes which is why every plate is beautifully decorated with colourful, edible flowers. Their menu comprises an extensive Japanese fusion selection, from Nori Tacos, Karaage Nasi Lemak, to Yuzu Pasta and more!
Here’s what we tried:
1. Shake Salmon Don
If you’re a salmon lover, this is the one for you! This mouth-watering bowl comes with salmon & aburi sashimi, salmon belly, ikura, tare, Japanese egg yolk, pickled daikon and furikake all atop a bed of rice.
2. Ocean Capellini
Honestly, this was nothing short of delicious. With salmon maguro ebi sashimi, ikura, goma tare, lime dressing and truffle oil, this refreshingly tangy dish was 100% a personal favourite!
3. Trio Taco
Although nori tacos aren’t unheard of, CC By Mel has managed to hit the nail on its head with this dish. The trio consists of Gyu (angus striploin), Ebi (prawn), and Tropica (salmon & tuna sashimi) accompanied by irresistible sauces. A must-try for sure!
4. Unagi Donabe
We saw several customers ordering this particular dish and after tasting it, we instantly understood why. This bowl of crispy fried rice and unagi was especially sumptuous! Most importantly, the size and portions of the unagi were generous. This is yet another must-have at this restaurant!
5. Truffle Puddle
Speaking of generosity, CC By Mel’s dishes are undoubtedly abundant with ingredients- in this case, truffle! With a wild forest mushroom & porcini base, this plate is filled with black truffle, cream, pappardelle, tempura enoki, truffle oil & pate with an oozy Japanese egg yolk. Warning: this will indeed leave you feeling full so save some room in your tummy!
6. Sando Sun & Ebi Matcha Sando
Smoked salmon, avocado, egg mayo, Ajitama tamago, Hokkaido loaf
We’re sure you know what a sando is but just in case you don’t, they’re Japanese sandwiches! Unlike your usual sandwich, these are filled with top-quality ingredients all encased in a Hokkaido loaf! They come in four pieces a plate, perfect for sharing.

7. Yuzu Seabass
Seared seabass, citrus bread crumbs, garlic thyme, Yuzu garlic shallot buerre, cream, chives, lemon & lime
Who would’ve thought Yuzu and pasta would fit hand-in-hand? Well, turns out they do! The slightly sweet yet tangy Yuzu paired with the savoury and crispy seabass certainly makes for an interesting and pleasant meal for those who seek new flavours.
8. Buttery Asari
Combining Asari clams, blue mussels and abalone slices with linguine is not only clever but also makes for a seafood lover’s ideal meal. The bowl of goodness comes with a special buttery broth that completes the dish, topped with ikura!
Panda Matcha Latte & Dirty Matcha Latte
How freakin’ adorable?! Quench your thirst with these iced matcha lattes – you won’t regret it!
Perfect Brunch Spot
Overall, CC By Mel is a one-of-a-kind restaurant where you will indubitably experience something new. Though they’re opened for dinner as well, we highly recommend visiting in the afternoon for the best all-around lighting and vibes! Be sure to book in advance as their tables tend to fill up in the blink of an eye- enjoy foodies!
