And the award goes to…drumroll please! It’s a proud time for us as Dewakan, domestic modern restaurant, nabs the title of Best Restaurant in Malaysia at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2022 for the second time! This puts Malaysia back on the revered 50 Best list at No. 50 since 2019.
Dewakan Awarded Best Restaurant In Malaysia At Asia’s 50 Best 2022
Helmed by Chef Darren Teoh, Dewakan is a fine dining eatery in the heart of KL, known for elevating local ingredients into piquant dishes worth the pretty penny. Their menu features dishes ranging from duck tongue dumpling with ubi kemili to bamboo shoots with salted mackerel bouillon.
Dewakan is based in Sky Views and had just recently celebrated their 7th anniversary. Having garnered rave reviews over the years, it’s no surprise that the restaurant has yet again won the award for Malaysia’s Best Restaurant. This re-entry into Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 places them at No.50, four ranks short of their place in 2019. There has yet to be another Malaysian restaurant to enter the list!

The awards is in its 10th installation that celebrates the crème de la crème of haute-cuisine restaurants in Asia. Winning the coveted Best Restaurant In Asia this year is Tokyo, Japan’s Den, piloted by Chef Zaiyu Hasegawa!

In ten years, this is the second time a Tokyo restaurant has been crowned the top spot.
Following closely behind is Tokyo’s Florilege at No.3.

Putting Malaysia On The Map
For the third year in a row, Dewakan has made it to Asia’s 50 Best List, placing No.66 in the extended list last year. Three other Malaysian eateries have also graced the aforementioned list that is Cilantro, Nadodi and Eat and Cook! It goes to show, Malaysia boleh indeed.
