Nando’s Malaysia kickstarts a nationwide Nando’s Kind Dining initiative from 15 – 31 May 2020, where patrons can donate non-perishable food items and receive a 20% discount on their own Nando’s meals.
Kind Dining is a community support initiative organised by Nando’s in partnership with food security NGOs such as The Lost Food Project, Suriana Malaysia, Yayasan Foodbank, GoJobMy, Kechara Soup Kitchen and other local charity homes within the Nando’s community. The first-of-its-kind effort by Nando’s will involve the collection of non-perishable food items that can be channelled to vulnerable communities whose livelihoods have been impacted by COVID-19 and the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“At Nando’s, we recognise that this is a difficult time for a lot of people and we are honoured to offer discounts to members of the public who would like to help their fellow Malaysians who are less fortunate. This pandemic has shown that deep down, we all want to spread kindness and do what we can to give back. We at Nando’s feel privileged to be in a position which makes spreading generosity, positivity, and unity possible. We hope to rally more people together and to distribute as much food as possible through Kind Dining, just in time for the Raya celebrations and keep the flame of hope burning in our communities,” said Stephen Chew, CEO of Nando’s Malaysia.
To be part of Nando’s Kind Dining, members of the public can simply drop by at any of the 72 Nando’s outlets operating currently with their food donations. They will then receive 20% off for their next dine in or takeaway order at Nando’s. Suitable items for donation include new and unopened dry rice, dry noodles, canned foods, cooking oil, bottled drinks, powdered milk, instant oats, flour, and sugar. All items must be Halal, edible and before their use-by date. Interested parties may visit www.nandos.com.my for a list of Nando’s outlets that are open and accepting donations during the CMCO.
Nando’s is led by its purpose to change the way people think about chicken and is fuelled by the positivity it can bring to its people and the community at large, particularly in times of crisis. In addition to Kind Dining, Nando’s has also been donating food through its Chicken with a Heart initiative, which is carried out in partnership with NGOs such as Kechara Soup Kitchen, Yayasan Foodbank Malaysia, Suriana Welfare Society and GoJobMy. The effort, which started three months ago, saw a total donation of over RM70,000 worth of food which was delivered to over 5,000 frontliners and vulnerable members of the community.
