Usually only seen in Northern parts of the world such as Iceland, Norway and Finland, you can now get a feel of how watching the Northern Lights (or Aurora Borealis) would be like, and the best part is that it’s totally FREE!

Happening from 5th May (2024), Gardens by the Bay will be launching ‘Borealis,’ their new immersive outdoor light and sound installation at the Supertree Grove.

Soaring to life with vibrant rays of colours that will be projected from thirty lasers and cloud machines, this light show will recreate magical Northern Lights scenes and illuminate the night skies of the Supertree Grove with dazzling Avatar-esque colours.

Created by Switzerland-based artist Dan Acher, Borealis will also be accompanied with an atmospheric soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois.

Promising a memorable and ever-changing experience, each fascinating scene will blend art and technology together with unique variations in wind, temperature and humidity. This ‘Northern Lights’ visual effect will be brought to life when each laser light passes through cloud particles that are generated from the machines.

To date, Borealis has been featured in over 40 cities across Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States. Borealis’s arrival at Gardens by the Bay will mark its first ever appearance in Singapore.

Starting from 5th May, the Borealis art installation will run every Monday (8 pm – 8.30 pm) and on Saturday and Sundays (9 pm – 9.30 pm) at Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay. Visitors can watch the installation for free!
