Established since 1974, Foong Foong Yong Tau Foo restaurant is a crowd favourite that has many travelling all the way to Ampang just for a taste. It’s highly-regarded for serving traditional handmade yong tau foo dishes in a casual environment that’s always buzzing with energy.
Foong Foong Restaurant Offers Many Types Of Dishes
Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll notice a well-organized open kitchen with each person designated a role in making yong tau foo dishes. From filling up wantons to frying and plating dishes, the high turnover of items is what separates Foong Foong from the rest – everything you get is freshly churned out from the kitchen.
Priced at RM1.60 per piece, they offer a large assortment of items such as green chillies stuffed with fish paste, fried eggplant, fishballs, wantons, and of course yong tau foo. Some are simmered in an anchovy-based broth and then seared on a hot wok until fully cooked.
The Best Time To Eat Here Is Brunch Hours
Although there are plenty of yong tau foo spots in Ampang, locals tend to favor this spot as it is one of the best in KL. To get the best flavour and freshness of the dishes, get here around 10AM – 12PM, because they mainly cater to the brunch crowd. Enjoy!
