From October 11th, Japan Welcomes More Malaysian Travelers

Japan is lifting a travel restriction starting October 11th to allow independent travellers from countries listed under the visa-waiver program, including Malaysia, to travel to the land of the rising sun. Those who have already booked or prefer tour packages will also enjoy the benefits of the visa-waiver resumption, which includes no longer needing registration on the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS). Additionally, the daily limit that was set previously will be abolished.

All travelers are required to show either a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate of three doses of vaccines prescribed on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO), or a certificate of negative PCR result of COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the original country. This measure will be applied from 0:00 AM (JST) on October 11, 2022.

Statement from Satoshi Seino, President of JNTO: “The Japanese government has at last announced the resumption of individual travel for tourism purposes, visa waivers, and the elimination of the daily arrival cap. I am incredibly pleased to finally welcome back individual travelers after coping with the pandemic during a wait of two-and-a-half years.
