1. The First Chapter

A speakeasy with a classic entrance, The First Chapter is well hidden behind a large bookshelf. Upon unveiling the premise, it’s a large space with several seatings including sections with studded leather couches, coffee tables and seats at the bar table. The ambience there with low lighting makes it a cool place to chill with friends! Located in the heart of TTDI, a range of Specialty House Cocktails await you at this speakeasy.

2. Her House KL

Let’s visit her house! Whose house? It’s Her House located in Chinatown KL! Her House is hidden upstairs in a pre-war shophouse that looks sus to have a bar hidden in it as you are looking for it. Once you saw a black metal door on the top floor, push open the door and be amazed by a totally different world behind it. Unlike the run-down design from the outside, you will be greeted with a full passage of mirrors and neon lights that are worth the Instagram glams! The bar is right behind the mirror with just a push. With low lighting that elevates the ambience there, this is a cocktail heaven where you can chill and vibe at.

3. PS150

This gem is also housed in a pre-war shop lot in Chinatown. Walking past the shop lot, you wouldn’t know that there’s a lively bar hidden inside. But when you see a toy store there, that’s the entrance of PS150. PS150 has 3 seating areas that give off different vibes: the intimate booths, the outdoor courtyard and also the main bar.

4. The Attic Bar

As you walk through the narrow corridor on your way to find this hidden bar, you might be unimpressed with the entrance as it’s an old rusty spiral staircase that seems hard to navigate. However, you must take the stairs, keep going and reach the top to unveil this hidden gem. On the rooftop of one of Chinatown’s hippest hostels, Travel Hub Guesthouse lies The Attic Bar which has a great atmosphere and KL city view! Go earlier and you can even catch the breathtaking sunset! You must also look forward to the drinks there as it has been voted as one of the best cocktail bars in Kuala Lumpur by Time Out KL in 2016 and 2017.

5. Upstairs Bar at The Crane KL

If you ever dine at The Crane KL, do not miss their hidden bar, Upstairs after your meal. Along the way up there, you will be greeted with greeneries and artsy crane decorations. The entrance is a wall of red Chinese traditional style cabinets that hides a lovely room with dim red lights.

6. Sip Society
A classy bar with a wide selection of whiskies, spirits, wines and uniquely crafted cocktails. Located in the heart of Aman Suria Tropicana, Sip Society is hidden behind a stone wall on the first floor. You can enjoy sipping on some drinks at their velvety seats and even vibe to some live music performance on certain days.

7. Shuang Xi

Shuang Xi has been around since 2017 now and it’s one of the must-go speakeasies in KL. With Chinese-retro decorations, this hidden bar in KL offers a trippy but welcoming vibe for people to bond over drinks. There’s even a seating area where you can just take off your shoes, sit on the ground and chill with people. To reach this bar, spot a shop lot with an old black folding metal door and that’s it.

8. Pahit

If you love Gin, this is for you. Pahit is hidden away from the main street in a residential area. It is secluded but it is not difficult to locate this speakeasy behind the white brick wall. It gives off an open house modern retro vibe and most importantly, they specialize in serving gin from all around the world.

9. Suzie Wong

A great place to have dinner but do stay for the drinks and enjoy them with live performance! Expect fancy decorations and funky vibes. The entrance of Suzie Wong lies at a Chinese traditional noodle hawker stall selling noodles and dim sum! Just walk in further to the huge wooden door and that’s Suzie Wong behind it.

Hailed as PJ’s premier destination for whisky disciples, this speakeasy whisky bar is hidden on the second floor of a shop lot. Behind the vintage wooden sliding door is where you will find 61 Monarchy. Classy and cosy, it’s a spot with great ambience where you can enjoy an impressive collection of whisky in town.

11. The Locker & Loft

Hidden behind a wall of lockers that seems worn-out, The Locker & Loft carries the vibe you need when looking for a speakeasy. Although it gives off an abandoned building concept with all the metal pipes hanging on the ceiling and all over the bar and wall, it’s still a calm and welcoming environment that will give you a pleasant experience there. You will also love their interesting localised cocktail menus using usual Malaysian flavours like Kaya, Pandan and more!

Walk into a cute office that we all know it’s just there for display and find your way to one of the hidden bars in PJ! Pull open the shelf and be greeted by a cosy and promising cocktail bar, Puzzle Bar. With a variety of cocktails to enjoy, you can even play a puzzle game where you choose to have your cocktail specially mixed by the bartender!
