Instagrammable eateries are all the fuss these days- but when taste is frequently compromised, there’s little left to enjoy. Imagine our pleasant surprise when we chanced upon JIO, a beautiful sky dining restaurant complete with genuinely scrumptious plates! Needless to say, this place is one for the books and here’s why.
JIO Serves Tapas & Wines With A 180° View Of The City
Located in the heart of PJ, JIO is a newly-relaunched restaurant where elegant food meets music. It’s the epitome of a visual, musical and gastronomical oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city! Run by an award-winning F&B team, JIO features mainly Spanish and Italian cuisine along with an array of over 200 wines to choose from.
Interior
Upon entering, you’ll be greeted with neon lights and decor that one could only describe as a pink mystical forest.
In addition to that, there’s a stunning 180° view of the skyline to revel in as you wine and dine at JIO!
Dining
From small tapas plates and sharing menus to main courses and desserts, JIO’s menu consists of specially-curated dishes that will excite any palate. It’s worth noting that the head chef has more than 10 years of experience with Spanish cuisine!
Here’s what we tried:
1. Crispy Fish Skin With Salted Egg & Curry Leaves
Warning: Highly addictive starter. Trust us when we say this tapas plate is gonna knock your socks off! Every piece of fish skin is crispy and fully-coated with delicious salted egg yolk- your tastebuds will be certainly be thanking you.
2. Spanish Octopus
Grilled to perfection, this exquisite Spain-imported octopus tentacle is a MUST-try for all seafood lovers! It’s tender and succulent, accompanied by a special chef-made sauce, cherry tomatoes and mashed potatoes.
3. Braised Lamb Shank In Signature Sauce
You know a lamb shank is the real deal when its flesh falls off the bone with barely any effort! Braised in JIO’s signature sauce, this delectable main course comes with mango salsa and asparagus.
4. Grilled Lamb Rack In Herbs
We’re still dreaming about this dish! With a medium rare centre topped with garlic mayo and herbs, this lamb rack is what you need if you’re a meat person.
5. Grilled Whole Lobster
Oh my, what a sight for sore eyes. If you’re feelin’ slightly more fancy, go for this delicate grilled lobster that’s baked in cheese and herbs. It comes with a side of spicy sauce pasta and ikura (fish roe), which makes it ideal for sharing!
6. Seafood Pasta
Another great dish is their seafood pasta that comes with a salmon rose, cherry tomatoes and asparagus. The salmon flesh itself is flaky and not at all dry, complementing the spicy tomato sauce pasta!
7. Blueberry Cheesecake
Finish off your meal with a sweet treat- we recommend this chef-made blueberry cheesecake that’s incredibly indulgent yet light at the same time!
Wines
What’s a full European dining without wine? Introducing Malaysia’s first-ever wine concierge, JIO lets you try different wines before settling on one.
There are over 200 wines to choose including red, white, champagne and more from the best wine regions in the world. As they carry low to high range wines, you may therefore enjoy a glass or bottle according to your budget!
The concierge will ask for your preference in body, flavours, notes and aroma before recommending a selection of wines for you to taste! All for free, of course.
Cocktails
Not a wine person? Fret not, JIO also offers a selection of premium international liquors! They’ve a few must-try cocktails that are simply delicious concoctions, perfect for sharing as well.
Watermelon Slush
This popular heart-shaped wonder is served in a watermelon bowl, and is filled with vodka, Midori, lychee liquor and watermelon. Relive college days and share this cocktail with your friends!
Coco Nut’s
It’s true- one sip of this cocktail and you’ll be transported to an island adventure! It contains Malibu, rum and coconut cream.
Affordably Unique Dining Experience
All in all, JIO is a must-visit spot in PJ for casual and special occasions. Their concept is impressive as is, but adding to the full experience are amazing live music acts every weekday from 7.30pm till late and a DJ on Saturdays at 10pm. “Jio” your friends here for a chill evening together and enjoy foodies!
