Kind Kones, an all-natural vegan ice cream and dessert brand, brings back their Unstoppable Women campaign, which highlights inspiring women paving the way for extraordinary change in Malaysia, while giving back to the community at the same time.
This year, Kind Kones has collaborated with entrepreneur, TV host and celebrity chef Ili Sulaiman. Her recent diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) meant that gluten, dairy and processed sugars needed to be eliminated from her diet, which are mostly all excluded from Kind Kones menu.
To bring PCOS to the forefront, Ili has collaborated with Kind Kones to create the flavour Kampung Snickers, a chocolate peanut butter ice cream base with toasted peanuts and a sticky coconut caramel swirl folded in. It’s a Malaysian take on a classic tasting chocolate bar that she used to be able to enjoy. She is also talking openly about her journey on her social platforms as she would like to break the perception that it’s taboo to speak openly about issues surrounding periods, hormone imbalances, other women’s health issues, etc.
PCOS is a condition that affects a woman’s hormone levels, whereby she produces higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance causes a woman to skip menstrual periods and it can also make it harder for women to fall pregnant. Other effects of PCOS are extreme fatigue and tiredness, anxiety, hair growth on the face and body, and baldness. And it can contribute to long-term health problems like diabetes and heart disease.
Kampung Snickers will launch on 8 March 2020 to coincide with International Women’s Day. The flavour sells for RM13.80 per scoop and RM2 from every sale of Kampung Snickers between 8 March to 8 April 2020 will support SEED Malaysia, a non-profit helping members of society that have been excluded from their communities and assisting in providing these individuals a safe space to get help, shelter and medical care. Ili has been supporting the organization since 2019 when she met co-founder Nisha Ayub and bonded over conversations over basic human rights.
To bring some comfort for women out there who struggle with PCOS, she is sharing more content on gluten-free and dairy-free options and working with like minded brands that champion women’s health. Kind Kones will be hosting a private meet and greet with Ili for six women who struggle with PCOS. To participate:
- Purchase Kampung Snickers flavour by posting food post of it with a #kkunstoppablewomen
