KyoChon 1991 Malaysia has become the first International Korean fried chicken chain to be certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia – JAKIM). In a press conference held at their The Gardens Mall restaurant today, KyoChon 1991 Malaysia announced that 15 of their restaurants are now certified halal by JAKIM.

These include 10 Selangor restaurants, 2 Johor restaurants, 2 Penang restaurants, and 1 Negeri Sembilan restaurant. Namely these restaurants are,  1 Utama Shopping Centre, Sunway Pyramid, Setia City Mall, IPC Shopping Centre, IOI Mall Puchong, Central i-City, Bangi Seksyen 9, Bandar Botanik Klang, Prima Sri Gombak, Cheras Traders Square, Johor Bahru City Square and The Mall Mid Valley SouthKey, AEON Mall Nilai, Arena Curve Pulau Pinang, and Sentral Jaya Pulau Pinang.

While they have always been pork-free and use only the finest halal Korean-imported ingredients, KyoChon 1991 Malaysia is pleased to have obtained the official certification from JAKIM to reassure their customers that halal standards have always been a top priority and has been put in practice  diligently when preparing their meals.

“JAKIM halal certification has always been an important goal for KyoChon 1991 since we launched the brand in Malaysia back in December 2013. We’re extremely fortunate that our franchisor supported us and invested in a multi-million dollar automated factory to produce the KyoChon 1991 sauces and seasonings. This meant that KyoChon 1991 customers in Malaysia can enjoy the same taste and quality of ingredients as if they were dining in KyoChon 1991 in Korea as all sauces and marinades come from the same halal factory!

We are so grateful to Malaysians because their support has enabled us to grow to 35 stores nationwide today. As Malaysia’s pioneering Korean fried chicken chain, we are genuinely thankful that Malaysians have made us the most successful KyoChon 1991 operator outside of Korea and we want to assure all Malaysians that we have always adhered to the highest food and safety standards and are delighted to now officially be certified halal by JAKIM as a brand that you can trust. To celebrate this momentous milestone, we are pleased to offer all our customers  15% off when dining with us this month,“  said Terry Goh, the Chief Executive Officer of KyoChon 1991 Malaysia.
