Malaysians Will Have To Pay Half Of Their Hotel Quarantine Fees After 1 June
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has just announced that all Malaysians returning home starting next month will bear 50% of the cost of their hotel quarantine fee or half of RM150. Since the starting of April, more than a handful of hotels nationwide has been gazetted as quarantine centres for compulsory 14-day self-quarantine.
Besides, the government has been covering the charges of quarantine stations of maximum RM150 per day since starting of April, for the hotel accommodation. The RM150 has been sufficient to cover charges of the room, food and beverage of each quarantined individual. Any other charges such as laundry has been covered by individuals themselves.
Meanwhile, starting from 1 June, non-Malaysian citizens or Permanent Residents will have to bear the full cost of their hotel quarantine fee. Anyone returning back to the country will have to fill up necessary forms agreeing to bear the costs of quarantine fees as well.
#StayStrong Fellow Malaysians
This may be bad news for those returning home next month. Hence, many may reconsider returning home so soon if they’re unable to bear the cost, especially for 14 days straight. However, this all comes in the good fate that it will further hinder the spread of the virus after the compulsory quarantine. For those returning back, stay safe and stay cautious!
