Hey there, do you have a favourite childhood biscuit that still plays a huge part in your life today? As Malaysians, we are all familiar with the various old-school biscuits that we can get from our neighbourhood’s sundry shop. Iced gems, pillow biscuits, animal biscuits and the list goes on. Well, guess what? There’s a talented Malaysian who turns our childhood biscuits into miniature keychains using clay known as 1/12 Space on Instagram.
1/12 Space Creates Nostalgic Childhood Biscuits Keychains
The co-founders; Joyee plays the role of curating these clay keychains from scratch while Wei Jia is responsible for social-media managing and product photo-taking.

Growing up, Joyee shows a fond interest in miniature works as she finds them adorable and intriguing. Then, while staying home during MCO last year, Joyee started learning the art of clay-making while her friend Wei Jia sketches the artwork. Together, they combined their artistic forces and created 1/12 Space.

The very first product that was sold by 1/12 Space is the mini Kuih Kapit keychain. As Malaysians are united with traditional biscuits such as Kuih Kapit, the products were proven a hit. Click here to shop.

However, after the Kuih Kapit keychain began rocketing off, Joyee finds herself stuck as to what to create next. But she did not stop there and on one fine day, she decided she wanted to create something precious and relatable to all Malaysians.

Thus lo and behold, she curated the ‘Malaysia Snacks Collection’ that comes packaged in the iconic plastic container with red lids. This collection consists of 3 snacks; Iced Gems, Small Fish Biscuits, and Keropok Roda. The first version of this collection packages the biscuits in transparent plastic bags and is even available as earrings!
