1. Regent Pandan Layer Cake

First off the list is none other than this legendary moist pandan layer cake that has everyone going crazy over. Selling for over 42 years in the same spot, Regent Pandan Layer Cake is the place to go for all your layer cake cravings. There’s also other flavours like yam, durian and pandan-mix-yam for you to choose from. Do note that there’ll be a queue during peak hours and flavours will be limited to one for each customer.

2. Warung Pak Din

Another nostalgic treat amongst the locals is this next stall that sells a plethora of Malay kuihs, over 50 varieties to be exact, ever since 1975. Run by the same humble family for almost half a century, Warung Pak Din is famous for their incredibly affordable and delicious handmade curry puffs, pulut panggang and other main dishes too. Perfect for lunch and tea-time, they even have watermelon ice kacang for you to cool down with.

3. Yap Kee Banana Leaf

If you pass by Yap Kee without noticing what they sell, you’d think it’s another Chinese restaurant. Lo’ and behold, you’re in for a surprise. Serving banana leaf rice for the locals since 1923 (that’s almost 100 years!), Yap Kee Banana Leaf is where the many head for brunch. The choices here are straightforward and a little limited, but you can’t miss out on their crowd-favourite juicy fried chicken paired with heaps of curry.

4. Chong Kok Kopitiam

No breakfast is complete without a taste of kopi and roti bakar. If you feel the same, Chong Kok Kopitiam is without a doubt the place for you. Famous for their fresh soft-boiled eggs, kaya toast nasi lemak, you’ll want to try everything in one seating. Pair it all with their super gao (flavourful) kopi and you’re set for the day. Another thing that’s special about Chong Kok is that it’s pork-free too, so you’ll get to see all kinds of races enjoying their breakfast here.

5. Fruity Bakery And Cafe

Next up, this local bakery is renown for their signature mouth-watering Apple Strudel. Bearing similarities to an apple pie, this crisp and light pastry is Klang’s little hidden gem. Fruity Bakery & Cafe has been in operation since 1991 and you can see signs of its history from its retro-ish building. You can get one serving of the apple strudel for RM6.75, or go all out and get a box of five pieces for around RM30.

Well, now you can visit one of the oldest Hainanese Kopitiam in Klang – Cathay Hailam Kopitiam to satisfy all your cravings for authentic hainanese food. Thick and juicy fried chicken chop drenched in Hainanese sauce with a side of chunky potatoes and green beans. Do try their mee Hailam and selection of fried noodles if your tummy can fit more.

Right here at Bandar Bukit Tinggi, there’s literally a whole street of food trucks selling cendol and other favourite local desserts. But out of them all, Cendol & Rojak Bandar Bukit Tinggi certainly stands out. Not only do they serve up a mean bowl of cendol but they also have rojak drenched in yummy spicy sauce. They recently opened a new store too, so you don’t have to brave the hot sun to enjoy this sweet treat now!

Meanwhile, for seafood, definitely try their Grilled Crab where you can instantly taste its freshness.

Don’t miss out on the chance to savour juicy, fresh clams. However, do expect a queue or rather long waiting time during peak hour as there’s constantly a lot of people dining there every night. But all that wait will be worth it in the end!
