This 33-Year-Old Restaurant In Ampang Has All Your Favourite Hainanese Western Food
Hidden in the plain sight, right opposite of Ampang Point, Restaurant Ampang (安邦中西茶餐厅) has been serving Hainanese Western food since 1987. Chef Goh has been serving Ampang locals with localised western delights at the corner of the street ever since. Now, his son has taken over and they continue to serve nostalgic food for those who grew up with it.
Although the exterior looks old, Restaurant Ampang is essentially famous for their “chops”, especially its tender and juicy Hainan Style Pork Chop and Sizzling Style Pork Chop. You can choose to go with Chicken Chop too, and top it off with your favourite sauces for the sizzling style. If you’re into beer-infused food, definitely try their Guinness Pork Chop that’s doused in Guinness beer!
Another crowd-favourite is definitely their silky smooth Hainan Tea – the perfect start to your mornings. They also have a huge selection of Western food and Hainanese dishes paired with rice. This place may not be a treat for your eyes, but they’re easily a sumptuous treat for your stomach!
