Here is another way to elevate Japanese cuisine. Most locals especially city dwellers have accepted Japanese intricate flavours and cuisines thanks to the social media. You should definitely stop over Tenmasa if you are looking for a more elevated Japanese cuisine experience. Malaysia’s first-ever tempura bar!
Introducing High-End Tempura Bar Experience
Here’s another Japanese word to add to our food vocabulary. ‘Tempura’ is a dish that usually emphasizes on fresh seafood or vegetables. They are lightly battered and deep-fried to perfection. The fritter-cooking techniques actually come from Portuguese back when they resided in Nagasaki in the 16th century.
However, tempura is often considered as a genuine Japanese dish. The dish is glorified greatly for its intricate flavour and elegant art at Tenmasa. Find the established bar next to its associated restaurant, Sushi Ryu, at Platinum Park.
Tenmasa can only serve up to four tables of patrons at once. However, customers are also highly encouraged to sit at the 10-seater tempura counter. Spectate the elaborate art of tempura making. The attending chefs were all guided by Chef Masanori Iwaasa. The chefs are dedicated to their craft.
Ingredients Were Flown Directly From Japan To Your Plate
Yes! Nothing but the freshest when it comes to Japanese cuisines. Therefore, all of the ingredients used were air-flown from Japan at least 3 times a week! Live freshwater prawns are the only ingredient that is sourced locally. The chefs would prepare the dish and drop them tenderly into 180°C oil. As if they are caring for a baby.
Tempura should receive its own spotlight
The Curate Group established Tenmasa. “We don’t feel tempura was ever a side dish. The batter, the ingredients and the type of oil used all play a role,” Said Nerine Tan, Director of The Curate Group. The Curate Group has also founded many other boutique Japanese dining concepts such as Sushi Ryu, Bar Shake, and Sushi Den. “Tenmasa is the first and only tempura bar in Malaysia and we are proud of that.”
