The Bao Guys was started by three law graduate friends as a small online venture during the MCO last year, where they operated in their condominium home. And recently, just a few months after its inception, they opened their first store in SS2, Petaling Jaya! Here you’ll find a variety of unique bao combinations like beef with mala mayo, fried chicken with egg salad, and even dessert options like onde-onde!
The Bao Guys Must-Try Items
First on the list is the Cluck Norris which is a juicy fried chicken topped with a pickled egg mayo, stuffed in a steamed charcoal bun. For something tangy, try out the Sawadee-Cluck that comes with fried chicken marinated in coriander paste, mala mayonnaise and onion pickles.
If you prefer spicy beef and fried mantou buns, the Beef Be With You is perfect! The beef is braised with mala paste and topped with a delicious blend of mala mayo which is very subtle, so don’t worry about it being overwhelming! A new item that they introduced recently is the Onz like the Prawnz which is a fried prawn patty, with garlic sauce and black sesame.
The Bao Guys has something for everyone and that includes vegans! The Power Plant is made with a fried breaded tofu that’s served with seaweed mayo, white radish and carrot pickles.
Dessert Baos
Complete your meal with their selection of unique dessert baos such as the Onde-Onde that’s made homemade pandan sauce, shredded coconut and brown sugar.
Tasty Rice Bowls Available Too
Apart from baos, you can also get rice bowls served with fragrant rice from shallot oil, spring onions and sesame seeds! There’s the Beef Be With You that comes with spicy mala braised beef; and the one that you must try is the Vegan rice bowl served with fried tofu and lotus root.
