We can all agree that Klang Valley has no shortage of international food spots with authentic flavours. Yakitori Syokudo Yae: Best Spot In PJ For Charcoal Grilled Yakitori & Varieties Of Alcohol

Located in Jaya One PJ, Yakitori Shokudo Yae oozes a casual rustic charm with its unpretentious decor and industrial-style barrel tables.

It really makes you feel like you’re in an actual Shokudo in Japan. It’s no wonder that this is a popular spot to chill after work with a cold beer in one hand and hot skewers in the other.

You know this place takes their food and drinks seriously as you’re welcomed by the sight of hanging saba fish and homemade ume wine. Yakitori Syokudo Yae prides itself on being the first in Klang Valley to serve grilled-smoke saba (Smoke Saba Ichiyaboshi), a recipe hailing all the way from Akita Prefecture, Japan. It is prepared by dipping it in salt water, air-drying it for one day, smoking it over lychee wood, and grilling it over charcoal before serving it to customers.

During our visit, we couldn’t resist trying the varieties of yakitori on the menu. With over 40 choices of skewers, our favourites are their Tsukune (chicken meat ball) dipped in raw egg, Pineapple Bacon, Gyu Tan (beef tongue) and Foie Gras (duck liver). If you’re new here and want a taste of what they offer, the Yakitori Platter is perfect for trying everything. It comes with pork belly, tiger prawns, chicken skewer and more.
