4. Charlie’s Cafe
This place was originally started as a social enterprise by Desonny Tuzan, a Kadazan and his wife, Debra Leong who came from Sabah. The couple started Charlie’s Cafe in hope to help the less fortunate, homeless and especially the indigenous people. Therefore, they purchase fresh produce direct from the Orang Asli Communities in Malaysia for their dishes.
A bite of their simple yet delicious chicken chop made with fresh ingredients produced through the sweat and tears of the indigenous people, not only your cravings will be fixed but your heart will be warmed as well. And, that’s not the best part yet. The best part is that they’ve come up with a unique concept where diners can pay RM5 as a donation in form of a receipt where they can stick on the cafe’s Pay-It-Forward wall; each receipt is a voucher for a free meal the poor and less fortunate communities can claim. Let’s be generous, one good deed a day!
