8 Best Hiking Trails Around KL to Conquer For a Spectacular View

Need a break from the hustle and bustle for a breath of fresh air? While a getaway sounds fun, we wouldn’t want to burn a hole in your pocket. Instead, get close to Mother nature and appreciate the view when you climb to the top, it’s super rewarding! Forget about shopping malls, these hiking trails around KL is suitable for everyone that even beginners can do some of it.

8 Best Hiking Trails Around KL For a Good Sweat:

#1 Saga Hill

Nestled in Hulu Langat, Selangor is Saga Hill, one of the finest hiking trails in KL to stretch and flex those muscles before any upcoming fitness events. There are two trials to get to the top via Taman Saga, trail A and C. While getting to the top might require some stamina, you’ll be greeted by an open space with rest huts, a playground and more. There are a couple of small waterfalls ahead that are perfect for a picnic or bath.

#2 Broga Hill

One of the most popular hiking trails near Selangor, Broga Hill is just a short drive away. If this is your first time, we highly recommend checking the weather the day before as the trail can get very slippery. Once you’re on the top, you’ll find yourself surrounded by 360 panoramic view.  Tip: Start your hike by 4 am to catch the sunrise, and don’t forget to pack a torchlight.

#3 Bukit Sawa

Looking for an easy breezy trail that you could sight-see along the way up to the peak? Bukit Sawa is probably one of the easiest hiking trails around KL, so bring along your friends and family for a good sweat. We highly recommend completing the trip in the morning as you’ll experience a blanket of fluffy white cloud at the peak, very scenic.

#4 Gasing Hill

Gasing Hill is the green lung between Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. There are several trails to get to the top, presumably 6. If you happen to see a beautiful Indian temple, congratulations, you have reached the top! Mainly for recreational purposes, Gasing Hill is great for family activities especially if you’re planning to sweat out a little.

#5 Bukit Denai 3 Puteri

Unlike most trails where you’ll get panoramic view of clouds and hills at the peak, Bukit Denai 3 Puteri gives you a birds eye view of the city! Overall, the place is very well maintained, with signboards along the hike as guidance. There’re a few different trails to get to the top, so explore and have fun!

Denai Tiga Puteri Peak
Hike Time: 1-2 hours
Unity Peak
Hike Time: Approximately 4 hours

#6 Jugra Hill

Jugra Hill might be the only hiking trails in KL where you could do paragliding when reach the peak. The hike in general will not be too difficult as the trail is bright and wide. There’s also a lighthouse at the top with vivid colors of nature as backdrop. If you’re there for paragliding, do check the weather ahead and fingers crossed for strong wind.

#7 Mount Kutu

If you’re up and ready to just immerse yourself in the wonders of nature, Mount Kutu might be for you. Lengthy trails with steep hikes along, it might take beginners about 4 hours to climb leisurely to get to the top. Trekking shoes are highly recommended as you’ll also have to cross two river branches. The view along the trails and on the top will leave you in awe.

#8 Mount Semangkok

Definitely not for the faint-hearted, we like to leave Mount Semangkok for the professionals. Don’t be fooled by its height of 1,824 metres, the elevation will make your knees weak. Professional or fit hikers will finish the hike within 20 hours. Otherwise, one could camp at Sungai Merah to recharge before continuing the journey. Mount Semangkok might be the toughest hiking trails near KL, especially with its narrow, uneven, steep trails.
