This Is How You Can Make The Perfect Cheesy Korean Kimchi Fried Rice Easily At Home

Dinner-time is calling Foodies! Day 13 of MCO, how are you holding it up? While some are hoarding Gardenia bread, others are prepping to become the next Malaysian MasterChef. Korean food has always been a hit in Malaysia since.. who remembers when! Now with this kimchi fried rice recipe in your radar, we believe you are a step closer to achieving that master chef dream. Key Ingredients:

  • Leftover rice
  • Kimchi
  • Meat of your choice (or keep it vegan)
  • Eggs
  • Scallions
  • Garlic
  • Jalapeños
  • Soy sauce
  • Chilli powder
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (or any type of cheese really)

Step 1:

First things first, heat up the wok or pan with oil! Then add in thinly sliced scallions, garlic, and jalapeños. Cook in medium heat. Stir fry the veggies together and even them out like they are best friends!

Fun fact: According to health experts, jalapeños are low in calories and full of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. It also contain lots of vitamin C and vitamin B6.

Dump in any meat of your choice, or opt for a vegan kimchi fried rice instead. Stir the meat along with the veggies, then add in a full shot of soy sauce. Let the soy sauce sit and caramelize on the side, then mix the caramelized soy sauce with veggies.

Here comes the MVP: Add in kimchi, dump in half a shot of chili powder and stir well! Then add in rice and mix it all evenly. Note: Stir fry until it’s slightly crispy on high heat.

Fun fact: There are over 187 different types of kimchi and they are not always red! And did you know? If kimchi is prepared and stored well, it can last up to 3 years.

Get the eggs ready! Transport the rice into a round-shaped bowl. Pat it evenly and gently empty out rice onto a pan. Next, add in oil around the rice, followed by the eggs. (Note: low heat)

Finish it off with some sesame seeds, sesame oil, and parmesan cheese. Now, enjoy!
