As we’re slowly approaching the final week of the MCO, the Covid-19 positive cases are also increasing with each passing day. Although, the constant news of Covid-19 may be depressing, but we know that the government is doing everything they can to help flatten the curve.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba had announced new quarantine zones consisting of 49 hotels nationwide in the Federal Gazette made public this morning. These hotels include famous luxury hotels such as Hilton, Dorsett, Sheraton, Crystal Crown, Ibis and many more. On par with this, another 14 other locations including gymnasiums, colleges and dormitories will act as isolation zones as well.

However, according to Sin Chew Daily, two of the hotels have been withdrawn from the list and have not been used as isolation centres. These two hotels are Golden Sands Resort by Shagri-La Hotel in Penang and Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Hence, making it a total of 63 newly enforced isolation centres in the country as according to the exercise of power under Section 2 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 [Act 342].
