Hello foodies! When we talk about the stunning architectural pieces here in Malaysia, we do have some that are really stunning. In KL, we have the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, Saloma Link, and many more. The 2nd Penang Bridge is even deemed as the longest bridge in South East Asia. And, adding into the list is the Drawbridge Terengganu Drawbridge that closely resembles London’s Tower Bridge.
Malaysia’s First Drawbridge Is In Terengganu
It is without a doubt that Malaysia pays homage to the best street food ever. Ranging from Hokkien Mee to Curry Mee and all the way to desserts, one will never go hungry while in Malaysia. Food aside, we also have plenty of fun and adventurous things to check off our bucket list. But, we’re sure you already know all of that.
If you’re the kind of person who has a thing for architectures, especially those with modern and sleek designs, then this latest piece in Terengganu should be on your radar. Akin to its name, the Drawbridge Terengganu is Malaysia and South East Asia’s very first drawbridge.
Additionally, the design of this bridge is inspired by London’s Tower Bridge. It also has a 23-metre-wide single-carriageway that spans 638 metres over the mouth of Terengganu River. Drawbridge Terengganu has four 15-storey towers, with each set of two towers connected by a sky bridge.
The entire project cost RM248 million and was completed back in August 2019 and it shortens the traveling time between Sultan Mahmud Airport as well as Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Kuala Terengganu by about 15 minutes. When the sun sets, this bridge will be illuminated too!

So, this bridge isn’t just stunning but it checks off practicality as well! What do you think of it guys?
