First-Ever Electric Bus Service Now Available From Johor To Singapore

Oh yes travel enthusiasts, you read that right! You can now travel across the borders of Johor to Singapore with an electric bus for the very first time!

First-Ever EV Bus Rides Now Operating From Johor To Singapore 

Johor has just become the first state in Malaysia to launch its very own cross-border electric buses that fit in line with the state government’s mission to be greener and more environmentally friendly.

According to Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, these electric buses will be operating between Johor and Singapore.

“This is a very important collaboration for the state government as we view environmental issues seriously and believe in the need to protect the environment in the medium and long term,” he explains. 

During the inaugural launch, Handal Indah Group of Companies founder Lim Han Weng also said that they had invested RM80 million for these electric buses and to build charging ports.

Apart from already providing 60 units of electric buses, Handal Indah will be aiming to set up more new charging ports for the electric vehicles in Johor as well.

It was announced that Handal Indah Sdn Bhd even scored the title of ‘The First To Launch Cross-Border Electric Buses’ earning them a special spot in Malaysia’s Book of Records.

At present, there are 3 cross-border routes that interested travellers can take. Further details are as follows:

  • Causeway Link CW3 (Larkin Sentral, Johor, Malaysia – Jurong East, Singapore)
  • CW4 (Larkin Street, Johor, Malaysia – Jurong East, Singapore)
  • CW6 (Larkin Sentral, Johor, Malaysia – Boon Lay, Singapore)

“We are committed to decarbonising but this will take time and more investments from our side. We are still at the early stages of electrification in Malaysia and are committed to pushing forward,” Onn Hafiz revealed.
