On 20 and 21 May 2023, Gamuda Land celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity Awareness, bringing together folks from across town through fun, family-friendly activities! This year’s theme was aptly named “Wonders of Wetlands”, as the focus was centred on understanding the beauty of our wetlands and the importance in nurturing them.
Gamuda Land’s “Wonders of Wetlands” 2023 Aims To Help Us Reduce Carbon Footprint

In lieu of Gamuda Parks’ 6th anniversary, this event was held to remind us of our daily habits that could help reduce carbon footprint which greatly impacts the environment. Thus as part of their biodiversity awareness campaign, plenty of exciting workshops, activities and contests were organised as an initiative for families and the general public to participate and learn about sustainability.

Here are some of the family-friendly activities and workshops from “Wonders of Wetlands”:

From exciting family activities like visiting the mini petting zoo to doing arts and crafts in the educational workshops, children were able to cultivate their interest and enthusiasm in exploring new things and get to know more about the eco-environment.

Meeting the majestic residents of Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands

Children with a curiosity for nature were thrilled to visit the Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands to see hundreds of flora and fauna species that play vital roles in the balance of our environment. This wetland sanctuary is home to a vibrant ecosystem, including species like the Black-crowned Night Heron, Lesser Mouse-deer, Grey-headed Fish Eagle and Fiery Minivet.
Shopping at the huge marketplace

A variety of stalls offering eco-friendly goods were set up at the market space for visitors to shop around and bring home bags of sustainable products. Not only that, there were also food trucks selling all kinds of delicacies where visitors enjoyed quenching their thirst and satisfying their hungry tummies.
Rewarding sustainable efforts

Every individual was given a sustainable door gift at the event. In efforts to encourage the public to reduce waste, those who brought reusable shopping bags, bottles, containers and utensils were also able to redeem mystery gifts by L’OCCITANE, Starbucks and Uniqlo*. Individuals who recycle a full-sized clean and dry beauty empties (any brand) get rewarded with a L’OCCITANE voucher too.
