In case you missed it, fully-vaccinated citizens from both Malaysia and Singapore can now officially travel between both countries without any quarantine required via the newly established Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). The VTL is slated to be operational by 29th November 2021, and will allow travellers to commute between both nations via KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and Changi International Airport!
All VTL travellers are required to get PCR tests
But before you head off to book your flight tickets, there are a few things you should take into account, aside from your vaccination status. All prospective VTL travellers are required to first conduct a RT-PCR COVID-19 screening and show proof of a negative test result two days prior to their departure from Malaysia and travelling into Singapore. For those arriving in Malaysia, you are also required to obtain another RT-PCR test when touching down.
BP Healthcare @ KLIA & klia2 have got you covered
Thankfully, instead of traveling separately to a medical clinic or hospital for your RT-PCR test, you can now choose to have it all done from the convenience of KLIA and klia2! Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) have officially appointed BP Healthcare to set up dedicated COVID-19 screening centres at their airport terminals, allowing passengers to conduct all their necessary COVID-19 screenings ahead of their travel schedules.
On-site laboratory complete with state-of-the-art medical equipment
BP Healthcare’s new on-site laboratories will cater to an estimated 45,000 passengers daily, before scaling up to over 100,000 tests daily when international travel returns to normalcy. Over 8 screening locations are expected to be opened in stages, with 5 planned for KLIA and 3 for klia2. At present, 1 screening centre has already been in operation at Gate G1, KLIA since 19 September 2021 for arriving and transit passengers.
With state-of-the-art facilities, these on-site COVID-19 screening centres are able to offer passengers a wide range of testing services with minimal turnaround time, which includes:
- RT-qPCR Rapid Molecular Test – 1 hour (highly recommended for VTL passengers)
- RT PCR – 3 hours
- RTK Antigen test – 15 minutes (optional, compulsory for symptomatic passengers)
- Antibody IgM-N & IgG-N test – 30 minutes (optional)
Other testing locations by BP Healthcare are also now operational in KLIA and klia2 for your convenience. For those arriving in Malaysia from abroad, or are in-transit, you may visit the following locations to obtain your COVID-19 screening tests:
- KLIA: Gate G1 Level 4, Main Terminal Building
- klia2: Gate P4, Level 2 Sector 5 (SG-MY Vaccinated Travel Lane passengers)
For those departing from Malaysia, you may visit the following locations to obtain your COVID screening tests:
- KLIA: Level 5, Main Terminal Building (near Papparich)
- klia2: Check-in counter Z1 to Z12, Level 3 Sector 2
Relax while you wait on your results
What’s more, BP Healthcare’s dedicated COVID-19 screening centre at Gate G1, KLIA comes complete with a host of recreational amenities to keep you comfortable and occupied while you wait on your results.
Upon arriving, you will be ushered into the testing area, before being welcomed into lounges equipped with Wi-Fi access, portable Wi-Fi rentals, as well as telecommunication SIM cards for work or play. If you start feeling peckish, food and beverages will also be available for sale from Sama Sama Hotel.
