“I truly miss my regular customers and how things were,” says Mandee, who has been with Urban Daybreak since the very beginning. “We are human, we’re made to socialise,” further added by OJ, the head chef. With no dine-in customers, many eateries need to change their operations to keep up. “We are just having a very difficult time now,” says Jeremy, the co-founder of Urban Daybreak.

“The sales of our outlets have dropped 70% to 80%,” says Adran, from Urban Daybreak’s finance. “But despite this, I do have a sense of responsibility to ensure that all our staff is taken care of as we know that they have bills, loans to pay, and families with kids to take care of,” says Jeremy. The co-founders are reaching out to their savings to support the business.

However, creating something new during this tough period isn’t easy.

I am learning to be more patient,” adds Mandee. Unsurprisingly, venturing into Jeremy’s Chicks during Movement Control Order has made the team much stronger than before. “Taking care of each other like family is the key,” says Jeremy. Caring for the community, Jeremy’s Chicks is ranging between RM9 to RM10 per person.
