If you’ve been around in Kuala Lumpur and is an avid pastry lover, then the name KLCG Confectionary & Bakery won’t be a stranger to you. With it located right in KL’s most iconic landmark – Dataran Merdeka, it has won over hearts from all around the country (and even out of Malaysia). Sadly, they will be bidding goodbye soon.
Popular KLCG Bakery In Dataran Merdeka Will Be Closing Its Chapter
According to a post that went up on KLCG’s IG page in October, they have announced that they will indeed be closing this chapter real soon. They stated that “2023 will be the last year of KLCG at Dataran Merdeka”.
However, they are not shutting its doors, but simply moving out from the iconic landmark. They will be reinventing and starting a whole new chapter – “KLCG 2.0”. Many fans of the bakery have since poured in over devastation of the news on the IG comment section.
If you’ve been here, then you will know that KLCG is located right inside a 1898 colonial building that also functions as a museum. It is quite an unusual sight to find a full-fledged bakery operating side-by-side with an information hub and cultural exhibits
We will certainly miss the aromatic smell of freshly baked goods here along with the hustle and bustle of cafe-goers and curious tourists from all around world. While we wait on for news on where exactly they will be moving to, you can still satiate your pastry cravings at Dataran Merdeka till the end of the year!
Savour All These Baked Goods From KLCG While You Can
A new pastry that has easily topped our list of must-try are their latest Cruffins a.k.a Flower Cheese Cup. Indulge in flakey yet buttery croissants that are baked with cheese. There are three flavours for you to choose from – Original Yogurt Flower Cheese Cup, Niko Neko Matcha Flower Cheese Cup and Chocolate Flower Cheese Cup. Also, this pastry is HUGE, we suggest getting a few to share for sure.
Aside from that, you can also savour on all their best-selling pastries that we have also enjoyed for the past two years. From its staple classic Cronuts to gorgeous fruit Danishes or even viral disc-shaped croissant, they literally have them all under one roof.
