Recently, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has made an announcement regarding the ban of using fake labels and poisonous substances in food products. According to their research since 2019, a total of 21 products from 16 brands were found to contain scheduled poisons such as sildenafil, tadalafil, dexamethasone, and prednisolone.
It is clearly stated under Food act 1983 (section 13), that; “any individual who serves or sell food item that contains or carries poisonous ingredients, or anything that is harmful to health will receive a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten (10) years, or both.”
12 Unanimous Brands Are Still At Large
Upon discovery, legal actions were taken towards 4 of the said brands however, the remaining 12 of them provides fake or incomplete company name and address. With that being said, MOH forbids sellers from selling any of the products. This will also include online sellers as well. Those who still have the remaining stocks will be required to contact their nearest District Health Office.
