Good morning friends! The past week itself we came across plenty of closures. From the once lively Bubble Tea zone in SS15 now putting up for sale banners, let’s admit that things are pretty worrisome, especially to business owners. Scrolling through social media, some of us have probably seen that there are 2 MPH bookstores that will cease their operations on June 6th.
2 MPH Bookstores In Klang Valley Are Closing Down
With the modernization of technology, the world is rapidly moving towards digitization. This includes bookstores as well. Scrolling plenty of options online and then bookmarking the books, there’s no denying the convenience of a digital bookstore. But to some, the experience of reading a physical book is incomparable and irreplaceable.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic is shutting out most business ventures. According to two netizens, a total of 5 MPH outlets nationwide are likely to cease their operations while 2 have already confirmed that they are closing down-namely MyTown and SubangParade.
While it has been confirmed by MalayMail that the MyTown and Subang Parade outlets are closing down, the others listed in the list might just be following suit. However, there is no official statement made by MPH just yet.
The MPH outlets listed are as follows:
- MPH Amanjaya – Kedah (closed)
- MPH Sunway GEO – Selangor (closed)
- MPH SACC Mall – Selangor
- MPH MYTOWN – Kuala Lumpur (until 6th Jun 2020)
- MPH JB City Square – Johor
- MPH Kinta City – Ipoh
- MPH MYDIN MITC – Melaka (closed)
- MPH Taman Universiti – Johor
- MPH Subang Parade – Selangor (until 6th Jun 2020)
Zatika Izati Puade, after reading a post update by Sri Diah Shaharuddin regarding the closure of MPH outlets, visited the MyTown outlet. She mentioned that bookracks are being cleared.

Book Lovers, Stock Up Before Saying Farewell
So, if you happen to frequent either the MPH at MyTown or Subang Parade, the closing date is confirmed to be on the 6th of June. There are still 3 more days to stock up on your favourite books and make the best of your MPH member card.
