Peripheral neuropathy refers to the many conditions that involve damage to the peripheral nervous system that sends signals from the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) to all other parts of the body and vice versa. Symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include numbness, tingling, prickling, and burning sensations in the hands and feet.

P&G Health Provides Free Detection Tests At IOI City Mall With Its First Mobile Nerve Screening Truck

The campaign which is located at the West Entrance of IOI CIty Mall at LG1, includes a mobile nerve-screening truck to reach out to Malaysians for early diagnoses. It aims to spread the importance of early identification and timely treatments for anyone who experiences ‘tingling’ in their hands.

There are multiple activities such as consumer sampling, health screening, and social influencers’ appearances including Diana Danielle, Debbie Goh and Fad Bocey encouraging people to take life back into their hands. Moreover, there is a specially curated ‘Museum of Touch’ which brings to life the daily challenges faced by people suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy and highlights the role of timely diagnoses and treatment.

With Diabetes Mellitus being the leading cause of Peripheral Neuropathy (PN), the increasing prevalence of PN is closely linked to the rise in the number of diabetic patients. Early detection may help to eradicate the problem before PN including Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) continues to damage the nerves and affects the person’s daily mobility.

Besides diabetes mellitus, Vitamin-B deficiencies and ageing are other high-risk factors that may lead to peripheral nerve damage.

Fun Fact: Every 1 in 2 diabetic patients suffers from Neuropathy during their lifetime, therefore it is best to have your body checked if you experienced similar symptoms.
