Sivasangari Becomes First Malaysian Squash Player to Reach Gold Level Since Nicol David

25-year-old squash player, Sivasangari Subramaniam has just made history with her momentous win at the first-ever London Squash Classic that was held at Alexandra Palace.

Sivasangari Wins PSA World Tour Gold-Level Title With A-Game Performance!

Emerging victorious against top-tier players such as World No. 4 Nele Gilis from Belgium and World Champion Nour El Sherbini of Egypt in the quarterfinals, Sivasangari succeeded against Egypt’s World No. 2, Hania El Hammamy in 5 games during the final match.

The suspenseful match went on for 81 minutes and she powered through to finally claim victory with a score of 11-9, 5-11, 13-11, 12-14 and 11-8. This victory marks her first PSA World Tour Gold-level championship.

Taking to her X, Sivasangari shared her joy following the win with a caption that read, “Proud of the squash I played this week in this beautiful venue and over the moon to capture my biggest title yet! Massive thanks to my team for always trusting in me along the way.”

Ranked 16th in the world, Sivasangari has also become the first Malaysian squash player to achieve a Gold-level final, which was last accomplished by Datuk Nicol Ann David in 2015, after her win against Belgium World No. 4 Nele Gilis.
