A Step-by-step Recipe For Delicious Spicy Korean Fried Chicken You Can Try At Home

Okay, all of you foodies out there know there’s nothing in this world compared to a plate of irresistible tender fried chicken. What could possibly make it better you ask? Well, how about juicy fried chicken drenched in spicy Korean sauce that you can easily make from scratch! Yes, you don’t need to buy the pre-made Korean spicy sauce from the supermarket.

Summary

Marinating The Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 10 pieces of chicken drummets OR 8 drumsticks
  • 2 tbsp / inches of ginger
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

Step 1: Blend all the ingredients together and spread it over the chicken meat evenly

Step 2: Marinate the chicken by placing them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes *Tips: Leave them in for a longer time if you want a more flavourful bite!*

Getting Sauce-y

Ingredients for the spicy Korean sauce:

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp of chilli paste
  • 4 tbsp of chilli sauce
  • 3 tbsp of tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • Salt

Step 1: Sauté garlic and chilli paste with a bit of cooking oil.

Step 2: Pour in chilli sauce, tomato sauce and honey. Mix all of them together in the pan and let it sit for a while. Then, add in the lemon juice into the mix. Finally, put in a dash of salt to taste.

Step 3: You can place the sauce aside to let it cool and work on frying up the chicken next.

The Perfect Fried Chicken

Ingredients for fried chicken flour:

  • 1 spoonful of wheat flour
  • 1 spoonful of corn flour

Step 1: Mix in both flours together

Step 2: Take out the marinated chicken from the fridge. Then, coat the chicken evenly with the mixed flour.

Step 3: Prepare your wok with hot oil and slowly put in the chicken one by one.

Step 4: Cook chicken till golden brown and drip off any extra oil from the fried chicken.

Step 5: Mix in the spicy sauce with the fried chicken & you’re done!
