Sunway Pyramid Will Be Scanning Car’s License Plate For All Parking Entry

What is the best thing to do over the weekends? Treating yourself by going to a mall to buy all your favourite things. One of our favourite mall, Sunway Pyramid, is going to upgrade its parking system. Based on Sunway Pyramid’s Facebook post, the management is currently testing car license plate recognition. Yup, no parking tickets necessary for all parking!

First of its kind in Malaysia

The 4.3 million square feet shopping mall will be the first to implement this system for all parking in Malaysia. We are sure that other shopping malls will be watching this system very closely. After all, Sunway Pyramid pioneered in many things including being the first themed and entertainment shopping mall. It is also the first to implement green and red lights to indicate parking availability.

Based on Sunway Pyramid’s Facebook post, it appears that the new system is currently in testing. In the video, it shows a car going in and out of the parking lot very smoothly. That’s right, no parking tickets at all. No need to fumble around looking for the parking ticket. No need to wind down the window. Most importantly, no need to stretch out your hands to insert the ticket! Yay!

We love this idea considering it will definitely reduce congestion during peak hours in Sunway Pyramid. However, the payment methods for this new system remains unclear. Perhaps, it follows the same method as having a parking ticket but you will be keying in number plate instead. Or, payment can be made via mobile application! Wow, super easy.

Are you excited about this new system?

As this new system is still being tested, we are not sure when it will available for public use. Hopefully, it will be ready soon ’cause it is going to be the end of the year. That means, shopping time for Christmas and New Year! What do you think of this new parking system? Did you know that Sunway Pyramid was the first to implement green and red lights?
