They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. GrabFood riders are required to replace their delivery bags with a new one every few months. Instead of throwing the used bags away, Sarawak fashion label, Neng Kho Razali upcycles them and turns them into school bags which are then donated to orphanages.
Neng Kho Razali Turns Used GrabFood Delivery Bags Into School Bags For Orphans:
GrabFood riders are required to replace their delivery bags with a new one every nine months. So instead of landing on the garbage pile, the Sarawak fashion label has partnered up with Grab to give these used bags a second life.
The process of upcycling them ain’t easy. Once the used delivery bags reach to the fashion house, they’re immediately sanitized and ripped apart. Because these bags are heavily used and exposed to extreme weather, not all parts are usable.
The usable parts will then go through a tedious process of soak, wash, and dry. Once fully dried, they’re cut into pieces and sewn into school bags, pencil cases, and bags to store money or masks. The final products are donated to orphanages and those in need.
Since last year, the brand has converted over 200 Grab delivery bags into 400 items. They have distributed them to the Yayasan Anak Yatim and Tadika Istika Jaya orphanages, SK Long Pelutan school, and their driver-partners.
These Upcycled Bags Are Not For Sale:
People have been asking to purchase the upcycled items. Unfortunately, they’re not up for sale. Nevertheless, thank you for giving these used bags a new life and a ray of hope to those in need!
