An initiative by the Autism Cafe Project (ACP), the cafe aims to provide youths with autism a space and opportunity to be independent and able to earn an income. According to Malay Mail, there are currently seven boys, aged between 18 to 25 years old, working there now. Most operations are run by them, from working in the kitchen to serving the customers. The Autism Cafe Project was established by Mohd Adli Yahya in 2016 after quitting his job as an executive director for the Standard Charted foundation. Being a father to an autistic child, he was worried about his child’s future. Hence, he opened a cafe that could help train special needs youth to have the skills to compete for employment in the work field.
