The Coliseum Cafe is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest and most iconic restaurants. The first (and original) Coliseum Cafe is located on Jalan Tar, Kuala Lumpur. Since its opening in 1921, the restaurant was due to celebrate its 100-year anniversary this year.

According to the Coliseum Cafe marketing manager, Azrain Azman, he said, “We have not been able to sustain since the first MCO. We relied on dine-ins, and the regulars who used to visit the cafe couldn’t come because the city was in lockdown.” It is no doubt that the Coliseum Cafe experienced a sharp decline in customers since the pandemic started last year in March 2020.

Although we are sad that the original Coliseum Cafe is closing down, we still have some good news to share. All other Coliseum Cafe outlets remain open and you can still visit them. They currently have three (3) outlets in Klang Valley. They are located at Plaza 33 (PJ), Mid Valley Megamall (KL), and IOI City Mall (Putrajaya).

With the ongoing MCO, they are now still open for takeaway and deliveries. But, do take note that the Mid Valley and IOI City Mall outlets remain close during this time. For now, only the Plaza 33 outlet remains operational so you can head there to get your food!
