Inspired by the art of Japanese street cooking, Shin Haru Tei is a gem presenting Japanese ramen, rice bowls, and even yoshoku (western fusion food) that are worth trying. With so many intriguing dishes on the menu, check out some that we ordered on our visit!

Rich & Flavourful Noodles You Must Try

1. Ooki Chashu Mazesoba (Dry Noodles)

First up is the Ooki Chashu Mazesoba, a newly introduced hot menu that is served with a big slab of pork belly and dry noodles. Marinated in sweet mirin and soy, the succulent pork belly is the signature of this restaurant. Each of them is torched upon order to bring out the taste and goodness of the marinated pork.

The dish lives up to its name ‘Ooki’ which means big in Japanese! Pairing it with chewy dry noodles, this is a delicious combo.

2. Ooki Chashu Spicy Ramen

Next, spice your meal up with the Ooki Chashu Spicy Ramen if you love spicy food! This top-selling order is prepped with the perfect level of spiciness to make it spicy but not lose the thick flavours of the broth. If you must know, Shin Haru Tei is most known for their Tonkotsu Ramen because the Tonkotsu broth is boiled for up to 12 precious hours! The long preparation of broth reflects the depth and thick flavours from the pork bones and pork trotters, without MSG! Creamy with natural flavourings, this broth is a must-try at the restaurant.

Another special one is the Pesto Ramen made with the restaurant’s unique yoshoku pesto broth. Pesto is one of the most popular toppings in Italy and this thick green sauce surprising blends well with the Japanese ramen! The restaurant serves a variety of tempting donburi (bowl rice). We went with the classic Gyudon and it is worth the try! With the poked egg yolk slipping through the simmered beef, sweet onion and rice, a spoonful is enough for you to acknowledge the goodness.

2. Okonomiyaki

You can also try this savory Japanese pancake- Okonomiyaki. Well-made with crispy edges the portion of the ingredients is quite generous. This is definitely a satisfying one to order for sharing or as a meal for one.

3. Ikamaru (Grilled Whole Squid)

If you love squid just for the extra bites, this Ikamaru is for you!

4. Gyoza

Another side menu is the Gyoza, Japanese fried dumplings that everyone loves!
