Japanese restaurant is always one of our favourite spots to dine at, be it for sushi, sashimi, ramen or donburi. There are a handful of popular spots out there in PJ but here’s one that you should try for affordable and soulful dishes- it’s Shin Haru Tei located at Jaya One.

Shin Haru Tei Serves Tantalising Taste Of Japanese Cuisine

Inspired by the art of Japanese street cooking, Shin Haru Tei is a gem presenting Japanese ramen, rice bowls, and even yoshoku (western fusion food) that are worth trying. With so many intriguing dishes on the menu, check out some that we ordered on our visit!

Rich & Flavourful Noodles You Must Try

1. Ooki Chashu Mazesoba (Dry Noodles)

First up is the Ooki Chashu Mazesoba, a newly introduced hot menu that is served with a big slab of pork belly and dry noodles. Marinated in sweet mirin and soy, the succulent pork belly is the signature of this restaurant. Each of them is torched upon order to bring out the taste and goodness of the marinated pork.

If you must know, Shin Haru Tei is most known for their Tonkotsu Ramen because the Tonkotsu broth is boiled for up to 12 precious hours! Another special one is the Pesto Ramen made with the restaurant’s unique yoshoku pesto broth. The restaurant serves a variety of tempting donburi (bowl rice). We went with the classic Gyudon and it is worth the try! With the poked egg yolk slipping through the simmered beef, sweet onion and rice, a spoonful is enough for you to acknowledge the goodness.

2. Okonomiyaki

You can also try this savory Japanese pancake- Okonomiyaki. Well-made with crispy edges the portion of the ingredients is quite generous. This is definitely a satisfying one to order for sharing or as a meal for one.
