Western-Asian Fusion Dishes That Will Tantalise Your Taste Buds At The Society Restaurant & Bar

This new eatery is located in Setia Alam and they serve Western-Asian fusion dishes that are super delicious. The Society Restaurant & Bar has a rather extensive menu that incorporates some traditional Western dishes such as lamb shank, chicken chop, and steak. But, they’ve also got a few localised dishes that make the cut for a scrumptious meal such as pork curry and siew yok pasta.

Besides serving delicious food, The Society also features a full bar with a beverage menu complete with cocktails, beer, wine, and other alcoholic drinks! Don’t worry about taking too long browsing the entire menu, that’s what you have us for. 1. Nachos

This dish needs no introduction because frankly, it is everyone’s go-to snack when we visit a bar. Simply put, Nachos is bar food but it’s also great for sharing. The Society’s Nachos is super addictive because it comes with fresh guacamole and salsa. In addition, the jalapenos give the dish a little extra heat and it goes super well with the minced pork. To top it off, it comes with a big dollop of cream fraiche which completes the dish, making it a perfect appetiser to go with some alcohol! A good time all starts with a plate of nachos and a cold glass of beer, isn’t that right?

2. Spicy Vongole In Broth

If you’re looking to try something more savoury and a little different, you should definitely try their Spicy Vongole In Broth. Vongole is basically clams, for those of you who are wondering. Their clams are cooked till they are tender and it is served with a creamy broth that is slightly spicy. This dish also comes with flour tortillas that you can dip into the broth and let it absorb some of the juice from the clams that make it so tasty!

3. Pork Aglio Olio

There’s no doubt that we Malaysians, especially the Chinese, love our daily (or shall I say weekly) dose of siew yuk, right? This dish is a classic pasta meal, Aglio Olio served with crispy roasted pork. Their spaghetti is cooked perfectly with a bite to it and together with chilli flakes, siew yuk, and olive oil, it all combines to be super yummy!

4. Lamb Shoulder

This is another dish that you must-try: The Society’s Lamb Shoulder. Their lamb shoulder is cooked until the meat is tender and juicy. It comes together with delicious mint sauce that complements the lamb really well and some sautéed vegetables with fries on the side. If you enjoy eating lamb, this dish is perfect for you!

5. Nyonya Pork Ribs Curry

Without a doubt, you must try their Nyonya Pork Ribs Curry because it is so tasty! This dish has the right amount of spice and heat that makes it so enjoyable. Served with white rice and crispy fried onions, this is your go-to for a satisfying meal that is more on Asian flavours. Their curry is really fragrant and their pork ribs are cooked perfectly! 6. Braised Lamb Shank Estouffade

Another stunning lamb dish, you should try their Braised Lamb Shank Estouffade for something more Western and traditional. It comes with creamed potatoes on the bottom, mixed vegetables and a brown sauce that’s really yummy! Their lamb shank is huge so two people could definitely order this to share and try other dishes too while you’re at it.

You should try their Charbroiled Beef Sirloin because it is cooked to perfection and it tastes delicious with a Black Pepper Sabayon sauce smothered all over the steak. Also, nothing goes better with steak than thick-cut fries! Enjoy the steak with fries and mixed vegetables; sounds lovely, doesn’t it?

Simply because siew yuk pasta wasn’t enough, we have another pork dish we recommend you to try! The Society’s Siew Yuk Western Style is a take on regular roasted pork but with a twist because it comes with creamed potatoes, flemish red cabbage, and barbecue sauce. Nevertheless, their roasted pork has a crackly top and it tastes super good!

9. Slow-Cooked Chicken Confit

This dish is great for chicken-lovers because the flavours of this dish really go well together! Their chicken is slow-cooked so you get crispy chicken skin and super tender meat. It comes with a charred pineapple and plum sauce that brings out the sweetness of the chicken. Besides that, you also get to enjoy creamed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.

This drink is their signature drink and it’s only fitting that it is called, The Society. It is a mixture of Vodka, Blue Curacao, Grenadine, and Sprite. This beverage is super refreshing and flavourful! It’s a beautiful-looking cocktail that’ll leave you wanting more than one glass for sure.

2. Hugo Man [Alcoholic]

Up next, this drink could be everyone’s go-to because it is seriously addictive! This beverage is called Hugo, and you can bet that it is huge on flavour. It is a mixture of elderflower, liqueur, rum, mint, and Prosecco. This combo makes the drink really yummy and you won’t stop at one sip!
