Better known as “Mirror of the Sky”, Kuala Selangor Beach is a unique tourist attraction that is only accessible to tourists twice a month, during the new moon and full moon periods. 2. Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park

A trip to Kuala Selangor would be incomplete without exploring the uniqueness and miracles of the fireflies found in the midst of mangrove trees in this small village. Take a traditional sampan (small boat) into the darkness and you might find yourself amazingly enthralled by the thousands of shinning fireflies. So breathtaking, you won’t want to miss it!

3. Melawati Hill Kuala Selangor

To get panoramic views of the town as well as the Straits of Malacca, you may choose to get to the hilltop by hiking or taking a short tram ride. A spot that blends nature and history, you can even spot the presence of some cannons, foundation stones and colonial homes from the past.

Moreover, the hill is also home to the Silver-Leafed Monkeys and Long-Tailed Macaques. You can buy peanuts from vendors around the area and feed the monkey. Safety first, so be careful when feeding them as they are considered wild creatures and can be dangerous when provoked.

4. Sekinchan

A friendly reminder here, the field is green from middle of March till May (and middle of Sep till Nov), goes yellowish in mid of May till June (and mid of Nov till Dec). As we know timing is everything, so plan your trip well to avoid disappointment.

5. Pulau Ketam

Pulau Ketam means “crab island” in English. Just as the name suggested, the islands’ speciality is crab! Pulau Ketam itself is low-lying, muddy and fringed with mangroves forest which is an ideal habitat for the crabs and other marine crustaceans which inhabit these waters. So if you love seafood as much as we do, this island is perfect for you to visit.

By the way, Pulau Ketam only consists of two small villages on stilts and not much more. The most interesting part is, there are no cars or motorcycles on the island. So, you can either walk or bike to explore the small village, choose whatever you prefer!

6. Farm In The City

With more than 100 species of tame and exotic animals, you know you have to stop by Farm In The City. There are so many things to discover. Let’s break it down! You can feed and interact with giant tortoises. Adorable! Be amazed by more than 100 Malaysian birds in free-flight. You can even summon thousands of Koi fish by ringing a bell! Apart from that, be attractive so that the peacocks will show off their beautiful wings to you.

7. Bukit Broga (Semenyih)

Bukit Broga is one of the best places to hike within easy range of Kuala Lumpur. It is only 400 metres high (1312 feet) and can easily be climbed in an hour. However, it is steep and challenging enough to get the heart pumping and lungs puffing.

8. Tanjung Sepat

Tanjung Sepat gets its name from the word Tanjung, meaning cape in English, and Sepat, a type of fish. Visitors often make a detour here to visit its fishing village and indulge in its culinary delights. Though there are lots of farms to visit such as dragon fruit farm, longan farm and more, Ganofarm is a must to visit.

Ganofarm is a mushroom research company that cultivates varieties of mushrooms for sale, such as Ling Zhi, Oyster, Abalone, Monkey Head and more. A half day to one day trip here during a weekend or long holidays is ideal, as this place allows you to slow down your hectic pace in the city, stroll along the seaside and enjoy the gentle breeze.

9. Batu Caves

Batu Caves, one of the most famous tourist attraction in Malaysia, recently went through a facelift. The vibrant new look comprises of all 272 steps to be repainted. At the entrance, you will notice a monumental statue of Hindu deity Lord Murugan before the colourful steps in the background.

While you’re stepping on layers of rainbows, you will notice monkeys just hanging around and there will be bats flying around in the cave!  Just ready your camera and take some photos to live up your Instagram feed!

By the way, the temple itself is approximately 100 years old whereas the limestone formation is 400 million years old. Wow! The Cathedral Cave, the main cave, has several Hindu shrines. At the foot, there are Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, which has Hindu statues and paintings.
