Kakigori: You Need To Visit This Hidden Shaved Ice Shop

We are going to tell where’s this magical place! It is actually Kakigori located at Tropicana Avenue! The spacious shop comes with the coolest entrance that is so hard to miss. The entrance of the shop resembles a vending machine with beautiful shaved ice lining up behind the glass. It is indeed a nod towards the hidden bars that have been popping around Klang Valley!

You will want a picture of yourself in front of the entrance. After all, what other vending machines in Malaysia (or at least pretends to) dispense shaved ice? The interior inside will not let you down! Stepping in, you will notice light brown and dark blue tones all over the place. Plants are located in the middle, giving it a very hipster vibe. The place is so big, so you know it can accommodate different sizes of groups!

Checking Out Different Kakigori Flavours!

If you are a big fan of our local ais kacang, or also known as air batu campur (ABC), you are going to be a big fan of Kakigori as well! Kakigori simply means shaved ice dessert with flavour syrup in Japanese. Kakigori also promises to have snow-like texture when it comes to the ice, which plays a huge role in the entire Kakigori experience. Don’t know which flavour to try? Start off with their bestselling Uji Matcha!

Uji Matcha | RM 17

The handcrafted Kakigori comes with red beans, wasabi mochi and kinako milk. Time to learn something new! Kinako milk is roasted soybean flour. The RM 17 shaved ice is a great introduction to the Japanese dessert scene as you can never go wrong with matcha! As all their ingredients are imported from Japan, you know it is going to taste authentic!

Elderflower | RM 19

Next up, we have Elderberry, made with elderflower espuma, and cranberries yogurt. This Kakigori is perfect if you love a mixture of sweet, and sour. In addition, it is also very refreshing. If you have something very filling during lunch or dinner, and you still want to have something sweet, Elderberry is Kakigori that you will need to order! You will RM 19 Kakigori!

Honey Rose Baklava | RM 22

The last on the list is the prettiest thing on the list. Fam, meet Honey Rose Baklava! It is so pretty, you just want to bring it home to meet your parents and marry it the next day. Made out of rose milk, strawberry espuma, honeycomb, walnut, and pistachio! It has a little bit everything so you will be surprised with every single bite you take. Talk about an adventure!

Matcha Roll Cake | RM 10

If you are not a fan of shaved ice, they have other desserts on the menu waiting for you! We have tried out their Matcha Roll Cake. The roll cake is absolutely delicious with soft matcha sponge and fresh cream filling. Unlike Kakigori, this dessert is not good for sharing as it is pretty small. If you want to try something new, you can always order yourself a hojicha roll cake instead!

Omugi Soup | RM 15

The next on the list is an adventure. Meet Omugi Soup! Why is it an adventure, you ask? That’s because you get to mix the ingredients. It comes with a bowl of barley soup, and you will need to pour in matcha jelly and red beans into the barley soup. That’s a pretty neat way to elevate a normal barley drink! If you are looking for something fun and semi-healthy, this is the best to order!
